It started out really well with the trip through the forest to the witch school, but after that it fizzled pretty quickly, and only got worse as the book went on. Grim Lovelies was a delightfully original novel.

It had elements of the strange and the absurd and the absolutely mind-blowing, all wrapped up ready to go, in a direction that I could not tell where it was going. Part caper, part fairy tale, part opulent witch society, you'll be swept away by all of it.
While this is primarily fantasy readers will also come across a bit of romance and mystery mixed into the action. In Grim Lovelies, the magical world is divided into orders: beasties, Goblins, witches, and Royals, in addition to regular clueless humans, called Pretties. She lives and writes on a 125-year-old farm outside Asheville, NC. I was so excited to read this one and waited for it to arrive in the mail so I could dive in! About the Author.
